§ 17-5. First Districts.

(a)

At a regular or special meeting which shall be held within ten days after the effective date of this Charter, the Council shall appoint the Election Commission members provided for in Section 4-4 of this Charter. The members so appointed shall continue in office until their successors have been appointed at the organizational meeting provided for in Section 2-3(c) following the 1987 regular election and have complied with Section 3-4(d).

(b)

Within twenty days after the effective date of this Charter, the Election Commission shall fix the initial boundaries of the districts provided for in Section 4-5 of this Charter.
